Phishing Warning

Over the past few days many members and others have received e-mails purporting to be from 1^st Liberty Federal Credit Union. Please be aware that these e-mails are an attempt to acquire your personal private information. If you responded to the e-mails by calling the toll free number in the e-mail and gave your private personal information please contact us immediately.

Below are two different emails that are being sent.

Example 1:
From: 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union [mailto:account@1stliberty.org]
Sent: Wednesday, August 06, 2008 11:08 AM
Subject: Important Notification

Dear Customer,
We detected irregular activity on your credit card on August/05/2008.For your protection, you must verify this activity before you can continue using your card. You will need to reactivate your card before we can review the activity. Call us immediately at our Toll Free (888) 428-3675. We will review the activity on your account with you and upon verification, we will remove any restrictions placed on your account.Please disregard this notice if you already accesed the web site or spoken with one of our representatives.

Example 2:

Sent: Thursday, August 07, 2008 3:05 PM
Subject: Notification letter #6072

Dear Credit Union Customer,
This communication was sent to safeguard your account against any unauthorized activity. 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union regret to inform you that we have received numerous fraudulent emails which ask for personal account information. The emails contained links to fraudulent pages that looked legit. Please remember that we will never ask for personal account information via email or web pages. Because of this we are launching a new security system to make Credit Union accounts more secure and safe. To take advantage of our new consumer Identity Theft Protection Program we had to deactivate access to your card account. To activate it please call us immediately at (888) 242-3191 Activation is free of charge and will take place as soon as you finish the activation process.

For your information, 1st Liberty will never do any of the following via mass e-mail communications:

Ask you to call any toll-free numbers other than 1-800-824-0585.
Ask you to visit any websites to enter private personal information other than https://freedomteller.org.
Notify you of any problem with your account.
